For the last 6 years, Pierre has served in multiple roles with American YouthWorks, a non-profit organization that provides education, job training, and community service opportunities to youth and young adults.
As a service member with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Port Security Unit (PSU), Pierre has served our country and gained valuable experience in leadership, conflict mitigation, and emergency response.

Pierre's active involvement on both the City's Public Safety Commission and the Asian American Quality of Life Commission, along with ACC's Emergency Management Advisory Board, CapMetro's Equitable Transit-Oriented Development (ETOD), and USCG Federal Asian Pacific Advisory Council (FAPAC) has given him a deep understanding of the issues facing our community.
As the son of Vietnamese refugees, My upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for the country that adopted my parents. This profound gratitude propelled me into a career dedicated to giving back to the community that welcomed my family. My own service journey began with my volunteer efforts, particularly in disaster-stricken areas, and working for a nonprofit organization here in Austin. Witnessing the resilience of communities in times of crisis, I developed a profound sense of duty to contribute to the betterment of society.
Drawing from my experiences as a volunteer, nonprofit worker, and Coast Guard member, I am compelled in taking the next step in my journey of public service by running for office as a candidate for Austin City Council in District 7, representing North Central Austin. Recognizing the importance of active civic participation, I continue to serve on various commissions focused on public safety, Asian American quality of life, and public transportation. With my deep understanding of community needs and my unwavering commitment to serving others, I seek to bring my experience, empathy, and fresh perspective to the table.
As a member of the AANHPI community, Pierre celebrates the contributions and stories of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders through support for the many activities put on by community leaders.
Pierre earned the Letter of Commendation Award from the Commandant of the United States Guard for his continued commitment to service while serving on orders in Washington, DC.
Pierre served as a panelist alongside other national and public service leaders, advocating for the expansion of national service programs, which would provide young people with more opportunities for jobs training and civic engagement in their communities.

I've dedicated my life to serving the public. From my almost 20 years as a first responder to deploying on disasters in SuperStorm Sandy to the 2016 Baton Rouge floods to Hurricane Harvey.
Now, I’m running for City Council to bring that same spirit of service, accountability, and action to City Hall. I believe that Austin needs a leader who understands the lived experiences of our diverse community—someone who knows that working-class families in North Burnet and Tech Ridge deserve the same level of city services, access and safety as those closer to downtown.
